Thinking of spacers, thoughts!

Hello, as the title suggests i was thinking of adding some spacers to the stock wheels to push them out a bit. I dont think they're so bad looking and with a bit more fender flushness they could look nice. I've read several bad things about spacers, but i was planning on using the ones that replace the studs comepletely from the hub, not the ones that have studs attached and a nut for the oem studs. I was thinking any where from 12-17mm spacers, haven't measured yet. What do you guys think, has anyone done this here? Thanks a bunch.

Yea I was wondering the same thing

I think the car would look pretty darn good, i measured a few minutes ago and the tire sits just under 1" inside of the fender, with 17m spacers which is about .66" that would make it near perfect and allow full tilt outward under hard cornering without rubbing anything. Thats with stock camber, if more negative camber is added then you could go with a bigger spacer. I guess i may give this a shot and see how it works out.

Actually those are not spacers, they are spacer/adaptors. Depends on the quality of the part you purchase. minimal adaptor / spacer thickness for safety would be at 1 inch or 25.4mm to ensure strength. wouldnt recommend less than that. You could put on normal spacers, I think h&r sells 12mm ones but not sure if there are enough threads on ur studs. They do also sell extended studs. The safety for thread turn is 7-10 turns.

Damn, had me confused because they say spacers on the site, same as the H&R. They come with extended studs to guarantee safety and correct fitment. Check out the site and let me know, thanks! :w00t:

I recently changed out all of my studs and added spacers.... ill take some pics tomorrow.

would there be any negatives to this besides pontential tire rubbing? Like bad oversteer/understeer?

yomny 08-23-2012 12:05 PM

The tire would only rub if you add a huge spacer 30mm or more. People are fitting 9.5" wheels on these cars without rubbing. The handling is supposed to he improved dour to wider stance/track but with such a small change you won't notice anything. The handling won't change at all unless you adjust camber or add bigger tires.

So what's it look like with the wheels back on?

Mister_Sir 08-24-2012 11:05 PM

What size spacers are these? Is it hard to install?

jeebus 08-25-2012 01:53 AM

I've run spacers on a number of cars and I never had a problem. However, I ran them on BMWs, which have lug bolts instead of studs, so it's really easy to add a spacer...just add longer bolts and you're good

Bump.. pics of the wheels back on? lol
