Vented vs non vented rotor quick question!!
So I’m in the middle of doing brakes on my 2013 Subaru BRZ. My car has the vented rear rotors, and I have the correct rotors to replace them but for whatever reason the parts store gave me the pads for non vented rotors. I definitely can’t use the new steel sheet metal sliders that they come with since it would rub on the rotor and simply don’t fit. But the pads are only slightly different they seem just a bit smaller but it looks like where they slide in the grooves is pretty well the same.
So my question is, is there any reason I can’t just clean up and reuse the old sliders and use the new pads? Or maybe I should just wait till Monday and get the proper parts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Pretty sure the parts shop gave you the wrong pads since AFAIK these cars never came with solid rears.
I'd just wait. |

as long as the old sliders are well greased yet, and the boots are in great shape with no tears, they're fine to re-use.
but i would make sure to get the right pads. rear brakes don't need to be done as often due to the brake bias, so you'll likely be stuck with something not working correctly later for a very long time otherwise. |
Ok sounds good thanks guys. I’ll wait and get it done properly.
