Which Motul oil to use?
 

Hi all, question about engine oil. What is the difference between the different Motul 8100 oil types. Which one should I be using? Previously I used Motul 8100 Eco-lite 0w20. I live in Miami and want to try 5w30 with the hotter climate down here. Good idea?

I'm stock besides catless uel header and E85 OFT tune. Most all my commuting is very short trips. I will also be adding LiquiMoly MoS2 Anti friction Treatment. The types Amazon has are below. Any recommendation would be appreciated. Thanks!

Exo-lite.
X-clean efe c2/c3.
X-clean + c3

The weight is more important than anything else. The formulations are for different standards.

If you want the best protection, just use 300V. It's straight up more durable with more additive.

So the 300V in 0w20 then? Needing to do a fluid change on mine and I was running thicker oil at your suggestion before I had an oil cooler installed, but thinking I can go back to 0w20 now that I've got it. Right? (car is road driven sparingly (weekend trips) and 3-5 track days a year, open to any options)

Watch your oil temps. If you're still on the warmer side with the cooler, on track, use the 30 weight.

It'll largely depend on your driving habits and ambient conditions.

Second gen cars should be 30 weight universally, IMO.

Never had an issue with temps, even running 5w30 w/o a cooler on the track.
First gen car ('17) with low miles (20K) so I should run 0w20? or 5w30? Probably sees 2k of street driving a year (spring/summer/fall) but nothing that would have me worried about temps.

If your temps are in line, then use the factory recommendation of 0W20.

Thanks, and definitely stick with 300V? Or other options that work too?

Could you please explain what are the technical reasons that you universally recommend 30 weight for the second gen cars (compared to first gen)?
