Ansix Auto's 2023 WRB BRZ Streetable Track Build

Here's the car, all stock from a the Kelowna Subaru. We drove 4 hours to pick it up. Just 13kms on the odometer.

We've already done quite a bit to the car but we'll post updates regularly but it may not be in chronological order. We'll have lots of images documenting what we've pulled out the car and how much everything weighs. Stay tuned!

Here's our first quick DIY mod.

For those of you using a Racebox Mini for lap timing, here's a good way to mount it where it's clean and allows the Racebox to have a good line of sight for the GPS satellites. We just hot glued in four 10mm x 3mm neodymium magnets to the back of the tie down cover. The Racebox just snap in when you want it there and looks OEM when it's not there.

We tested the car on track and we kept accidentally hitting the voice command button. So we went ahead and did a voice command delete mod. We purchased a wheel from a first gen which didn't have the button and swapped the guts. While we had the steering wheel apart, we removed the weight inside as well. Saved 289.6g / 0.64lbs.

Bye Bye fake sounds. Removed the control unit along with the speaker behind the head unit.

Installed the Perrin crank pulley. Wasn't as light as we'd hoped.

I was wondering how much weight it would save to remove the control unit and speaker. Bummer it's not more. But I appreciate you guys documenting it.

We installed an off the shelf axle back exhaust. The tips were touching the bumper so we had to weld on pipe to replace the tip. Picture shows the weight with the tips still on.

We also installed rear upper control arms to dial in the camber. They happened to drop some weight too.

This is too true. I recently weighed my turbo FRS and was surprised that it was near 2650lbs, far lower than I had thought. It took me a long while to realize how many little things I've removed/changed and how much it's removed cumulatively.

Ansix Auto 12-28-2022 03:38 PM

Sure does!

Our last weigh in was at 2658lbs with a 1/4 tank of gas. No driver.

The car still has interior, full stereo, stock seats.

You log oil pressure on that track yet? That course seems like it has some amazing candidates for testing the oil pressure loss on right handers, and you are definitely pulling some lateral accel.

Ansix Auto 08-10-2023 09:31 PM

We made some very intentional changes to our 2023 Subaru BRZ to minimize the oil pressure drops we've seen previously. Went specifically to a clockwise circuit to test them out.

Vancouver island motorsport circuit, also known as VIMC, has some interesting right handlers. Turn 3, the fast 120kph apex right hander, Turn 4-6, a long 270 degree 10 second long right hander, and T10, a cresting right hander.

This video is an onboard lap of the car after the changes that we've made. The fourth gauge on the overlay shows the oil pressure in PSI. You can see the pressure dropping on the right handers but much less significantly than before.

We will be uploading a video soon discussing our findings with comparisons before and after the modifications. Subscribe to be notified of when we upload the video.

Yikes. Seems like nearly every right hander dropped you down near the 40PSI mark. Lots of elevation changes.
