White Smoke from engine bay
1 Attachment(s)
Recently noticed some white smoke from engine bay next to the oil dipstick and under the timing chain.
Initially thought it could be the leaking from the oil dipstick. Took it to the dealership and replaced the oil dipstick o-ring. However, still seeing smokes after replacement. I am starting to wonder if it comes from another place. Has anyone seen similar issues on their cars? Where else could it be leaking oil? video of smoke: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/FrJjQDblwvQ |
You dropped oil straight onto the header. It's going to smoke for a while.

dealership said no active oil leaks and they pressure washed the old residue. But event after all these, I am still seeing smoke after driving back home.

check the cam plate behind the engine. I read that's prone to oil leaks and can drip onto the overpipe/header. If that was pressure washed then it'll take a few cycles to burn off. If it's not an oil leak then it could be an exhaust leak near the header. It could be a coolant leak near the thermostat or near the tb. Degrease it with full concentration then wash it down. Time to drive it up some ramps and unbolt the dust shield to really see whats going on. What's it smell like? Burnt? sweet? Idk i'm just making stuff up at this point.

So, what was the issue and resolution?
I hate when people don't update threads. |
