DIY install ISIS catback exhaust

This is going to be purely a How To: for review http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...674#post391674.

I did this on the floor of my garage. The whole install took 45 minutes from beginning to end including me taking the pictures.

This is what you will get in your box

You will need a jack, jack stands. 14mm socket, ratchet, 14mm wrench, medium size channel locks, and some penetration lube of choice I used WD-40 http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b1...3/DSC_1774.jpg

1: I raised up my car from the drivers side installing the jackstand at the rear subframe mounting, and the front frame mounting.

2:remove the bolts with the 14mm socket and wrench on the axle back and the mid pipe. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b1...3/DSC_1747.jpg

3: use the 14mm socket to remove the bolts with springs and separate the midpipe from downpipe. you can use your hands to hold the smaller bolts on the other end.

4: take the WD-40 and spray some inside the rubber exhaust hanger and use the channel locks to push the nipple through

once removed it will look like this

5: go to the muffler and use the WD-40 on those rubber hangers and use the channel locks in the same manor, it doesnt matter wich side you start from but I suggest you release both on the same side before going to the other will make removing easier

once removed it shall look like this
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b1...3/DSC_1755.jpg

6:I didnt but I suggest you bolt the two midpipe sections together with provided bolts and gasket before you install it will make it easier.

7: put some lube on the hanger again and slide the nipple through the rubber hanger. sorry no pic for his

8: put the bolts with springs back in and reconnect the midpipe to the downpipe, you may want to use the channel locks to squeeze the spring and bolt to start the nut on the back
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b1...3/DSC_1759.jpg

9: install the muffler in the reverse manner you removed it, spray some lube in the hangers and install one side at a time. it makes it easier for leverage.

10: connect the midpipe to the axle back with the supplied nut, bolts and gasket and your done.

Again this was extreamly simple probobly one of the easiest exhaust systems I have ever installed on my car.

Well done! Although I won't be using this exact cat system, the write up is clean and simple. Ill wait for a video version (if possible) since i have a LONG wait for my system and break in

Thanks again!

I love the sound of the Isis cat-back from the youtube vids i've seen - it's probably my fav.

Though i'm not such a fan of the burnt tip look, I think this is nearly the top of the list when I end up buying one this year.

In your opinion, is it reasonably "gentlemanly" or is it really freaking loud? I'm just wondering - the sound is great, but you can never get an idea of volume in a youtube vid.

I also have the Isis cat. It is definitely not freaking loud. I originally didn't want something too loud, because of neighbors. After getting it on, I do wish it was a tad louder. But it sounds much, much better than stock
