Engine parts to cover during engine wash. Missed the ECU.
Hi Guys,
Had an engine wash the other day in this local car wash and forgot to cover the ECU, well im not sure if it was the ECU of fuel injector module which is located near the fusebox, because I remember the ECU of the 86 is just under the dash passenger side ammi correct? does anyone have the same experience? Hopefully ECU was not damaged. So far my 86 is still running normal with no unusual sounds or abnormalities. I had it pressure washed. Hopefully everything is just fine especially the ECU. Had alternator and other electrical components covered, So what are the other parts that needs to be covered. Thanks a lot. |
It'll be fine

If you had caused an issue, you'd already know about it. You would have known about it first start up after the wash. |
Thanks Guys! Yeah so far ao good i dont see, hear or feel any problems. Hopefully i wont have long term issues tho because of the engine wash I had. Thanks guys

You should be ok. Everything in the engine compartment should be IP65 or greater. I personally do not cover anything when cleaning my engine but do not use a pressure washer.

I wouldn't use a pressure washer either. You can get everything you need off with a regular hose and brush.
