Sick of replacing RH drive shaft seals...
1 Attachment(s)
I'm a constant victim of my own laziness... 3 seals in 4 months.
Finally took the time to put on some heat protection where the exhaust passes the diff and cooks the seal until it lets go in a dramatic haze of white smoke. |
You're the first one I've seen with this issue... Are you certain you are installing the seal correctly? Is the shaft that passes through it damaged?

Diff guy said it was definately the exhaust overheating the seal area, and all three occasions it happended at the same time of day on one of the rally "track days"... almost exactly at the same time my engine temps get ugly too. The motor does now generate some serious heat in to the exhaust (on those dirt track days), which is a larger diameter , and I had specially made to tuck into the bottom of the car as close as possible... so it runs quite tight to the diff housing. |

I fitted Cusco protection to mine.

I think you would have been better off doing a full wrap.
A lot of us have issues cooking the grease in the left CV axle on the diff side. I dunno if that is worse or better then your issue :iono: |

My issue is really just the radiant heat directly above the custom pipe into the diff seal area, the clearance between pipe and housing is probably only 5mm. (my system is in a slightly different position that doesnt seem to impact the rubber drive boots....touch wood!) |
