Exhaust Compatible with Gen 1???

During this SEMA video that FTSPEED just put up yesterday, around the five minute mark @thekevinvo mentions that the exhaust is compatible with the previous model... Are you saying that the exhaust is the same on both Gen 1 and Gen 2 cars???

Stock clearance?

Even if you could install an old exhaust without issues, it doesn't mean is suitable for the new car. A bigger engine means that it'll need a bigger exhaust size and a new analysis of the gas flow and supression of the sound waves. Wait until new exhausts are available for the new car.

The mounting and hanger locations seem to be the same. However, like others have mentioned, the existing exhaust parts might not offer the best performance as they're not designed for the new engine.

Take this with a grain of salt, but I also believe I heard Cusco say the old headers may fit as well, but that also goes back to what I said above.

Once I know more, I'll be sure to share!

But for NA the cat back rarely offer any benefits other than sound or looks. So if it fits I am sure it will be just fine.

STI says you can have a 13% lower back pressure with their axleback and 16% lower back pressure with their axleback and a bigger midpipe. Meaning that you can get an additional ~3% with the midpipe which is not much of an increase and it adds noise. How much is the total improvement on hp benefits? It has not been measured, but at least it is one of the very few manufacturers posting numbers. Other exhaust manufacturers will not post anything or they'll post some dyno sheet which is very easy to manipulate. Fact is that NA tuning doesn't give much, but every little you can gain counts. If someone doesn't want to pay big money in overall NA tuning, then I agree he should focus on an exhaust mainly on the sound and the looks.

Agreed, catbacks get into diminishing returns quickly until you lessen restrictions upstream at the header on back and most importantly tune for it. There is basically no performance benefit after the mid pipe apart from sound as we know.

If you want to go catless yes, but it is a decision. Personally I would never do it. Same about a catted aftermarket header which does not gain much and there were many people complaining (non-public) that the sport cat is failing after a short time. I find the factory +'17 header to be quite optimal and you keep the OEM heat shielding too. About the new model we'll have to wait and see, but I am sure some will want to go catless no matter what.

Yes, Gen 1 cat-back fits on Gen 2

Sound tuning sure maybe get something new, but pretty sure its gonna be 2.5", 3", or 60mm like always for pipe diameter.

the fa24 in second gen is essentially a bored out fa20 correct? if so, barring clearance from changes with suspension arms the header, op, etc may bolt right up! I'd be tempted to get a second gen if i can transfer over my coils, brakes, and exhaust
