Aspect ratio - 16” wheels

Hello,

What are the highest aspect ratio that can be used in 16” 205 and 215 tires?
From the wheel size calculations, I saw recommended 215/55 and 205/60, but I would like q little bit more ground clearance for winter (and also for the fun of trying a different route for winter driving)

Anyone tries anything bigger than those? 70 :)?

How much the scrub radius is affected?

I will try this on the 22 BRZ, but any feedback from a stock-ish gen1 would be really appreciated.

Depends on wheel width.

I have a set of 16x7 +50 with 205/55R16 and had no clearance issues on fully stock suspensionl/alignment.

Good point. How about the ground clearance, did you gain any? And did you see any weirdness on the steering behavior and straight line stability?

I am using the wheel-size website. Seems good from first look.

205/55R16 is slightly taller than 215/45r17 but not by much. I did not get any weird behavior as a result of the taller sidewall. Your tire choice will have a bigger impact on stability. Most winters are garage for response/stability due to soft sidewalls.

I recall the cars that were sold in 16" fitment had the same exact tires.

The 205/55 R16 tire was the factory size for the low-trim levels in Japan and Europe. One-make series races in Japan used the same spec too.
