Lock/Unlock Issues

The lock/unlock/trunk buttons inside the car and on the key fob do not work until I press them about 20 times, then they start working. The issue is getting slowly worse. There are no other electrical issues. Does anyone have the same issue, or has anyone resolved this issue?

How do you the locks behave when you press the door button inside of the car?

In-car buttons (not key fob buttons) behave like this: The unlock button doesn't work until the car is warmed up. The lock button usually works. The trunk button doesn't work until the car is warmed up. There are no other electrical issues.

Does little red lock indicator wiggle when you press the buttons? It could be your door lock actuators which have gone bad on a lot of people’s twins. They get gunked up which may explain why it get worse over time and only work when the car is warmed up (warm gunk moves easier).

Captain Obvious here.

When opening the trunk, are you holding the fob button down for a couple of seconds?

Have you changed the fob battery?

Have you cleaned the contacts on the fob battery?

Have you tried your other set of keys? On my keys, one set of keys unlock on first press. But on my other set, I have to press 2-3 times. Not sure why.

Fer cryen out loud - what the hell have we done to ourselves - :confused0068:

Anyone else remember the simpler days. One key was for the doors and trunk, the other one was for the ignition! They were even shaped differently to give the driver a hint. For the truly challenged, there were only two keys per vehicle - if the one didn't fit - it must be the other one -

No bulky fob, no chips, no programming, no battery - just two fucking keys to unlock and start the car - SMH

(it must be past ma nap time - :()
