Koni Yellows and RCE Yellows?
 

Anyone have any first-hand experience running this "all-Yellow" setup on the BRZ/FRS/86? Particularly any comparison with the stock Performance Pack suspension would be great.

I really liked the Koni / H&R combo I ran on my last car, but I think I'd prefer the spring rates of the RCE Yellows (vs. H&R Sport / Eibach Pro-Kit) to balance out the handling a bit better.

I *think* the damping of the Koni's should be sufficient to run with the RCE Yellows' spring rates, but not sure...

My plan would be to run these with the Pedders caster/camber top mounts and camber bolts, which along with the adjustable rebound damping is all the adjustment I think I'll want.

Imho you should add to basket also adjustable rear LCA-s.

I'm running Bilsteins (B8s, but B6s are identical with more droop travel, either should be fine) with Swift Spec-R springs and I'm really happy with them on the street and at the track. They'd work fine with RCE yellows as well I'm sure.

Plan for front sounds good. I wouldn't bother with rear LCAs, honestly I don't know why so many do... Just lowering the car a bit will give you about the amount of rear camber you want anyway.

The only reason I'd add rear LCA's is if I find that tire wear is excessive with the natural negative camber gain from the drop, but from all reports so far that isn't the case.

I do want the adjustability in rebound damping with the Konis to fine tune the balance how I like it, so unfortunately the Bilsteins are out. It's either the Konis, or I go with coilovers instead.

I just don't really want/need the ride height adjustability with coilovers and would rather put that extra cash into something else fun for the car. ;)

I run yellows + B6. Considered Koni yellows but ended up with the Bilsteins. I ended up with around 2.3° rear camber on the rear on stock LCA with 0.8" drop.
I did add LCAs later and pulled some out. Currently around 1.9" with the stock toe arms maxed out.

The Koni Yellows are great and work really well with our RCE Yellows. They're well in range of what the Konis can handle.

Different car, but I ran Koni Yellows and Bilstein B6 back to back on a previous car of mine. Similar takeaways for this chassis...both work well. Bilstein slightly more responsive and better over bigger bumps. Konis slightly better over small bumps and the adjustability is nice.

EDIT: Better ride quality and IMO durability with the Bilstein B6. I think at this point most go with the Konis if they really really want the adjustability. I prefer the Bilsteins or something like our RCE SS1.

My Sport Tech RS is the "Performance Package" with the Sachs dampers, and I feel that it's better damped than my Koni/H&R combo on my old car over the bigger impacts (though I was running the Konis on the softer side, to be fair), but a bit too much chatter over the small stuff. Kinda similar to what you said in your comparison of the Konis and Bilstein B6's.

The SS1's are still on my radar for sure, just exploring other options!

I’ve ran the B6 (80k miles) and Koni yellows (70k miles) with RCE Tarmac springs and I liked the B6 much much better.

While I liked the adjustments of the Koni, I view it like having adjustable weights on a golf club. Sure adjusting weights may make you hit the ball better, but what would be more effective is to learn how to properly hit the ball instead of compensating for bad habits with physical adjustments. This is just my opinion though!!

With the B6 you get a “great non adjustable golf club” that is easy to learn with, but performs incredibly well.
