Had a hard time seating new brake pads
 
I put in the new metal sheet metal things, and lubed the pad ears, and it was a real hassle to get the pads to seat in the notches. Is this normal? I had to jam the metal sheets with a screwdriver to make they were fully seated into the notch. Even still, the pads did not just slip into place easily.

what replacement pads did you use?

likely an issue with the specific company

I’ve had the same experience when installing aftermarket pads which included new clips. They just didn’t seem to seat in well making the pads impossible to install.
I resorted to cleaning up the original OEM clips which showed no wear and reusing them. The new pads went in easily then. Damn aftermarket crap!

I had no issue with clips.
There were none on Centric pads.
