Removal is pretty standard except for this bracket. The two bolts are captive so you'll need to remove them evenly otherwise they will bind inside the bracket.

I take it this post was made when you ran out of expletives; in order to save others from spouting the same expletives.

Not as much as when a bolt on passenger rear caliper (no bracket btw) sheared off and I had to drill it out!

That happened on my last car’s turbo switching the downpipe for inspections. After drilling it out, my brother broke my tap off in it. Drilling out old bolt was infinitely easier than removing that.

Bringing this one back from the dead a bit but seeing those bolts are 19mm and after a few hours of banging on the rachet I've gotten one of the bolts loose. What am I doing wrong?

More torque. They shouldn't be that tight, maybe like 40-45ftlb. You may have some corrosion hampering your efforts. I'd also make sure you use a 6pt socket so you don't round off the edges.

Thanks and using a socket with a poly hammer, any chance these would be locktited? From what I've seen spec is like 90lbs, same as the wheels but I've a lot more space with a breaker bar for those.

Maybe they are that tight, I didn't think they where.

I'd use a breaker bar with a 3in extension and a 6pt socket to keep it from slipping.

Right, but how to get a breaker bar in there when it's only on stands not a lift?

Use longer extension. Just be careful you don't allow the socket to rock on the head or you may round off the bolt, or bust your knuckles.

Will give that a go tomorrow but as I'm remembering it I didn't have room for much of an extension. Knuckles already busted anyway

Oh shit, yeah I forgot the bolts come in from the backside of the knuckle. There isn't much room there. Maybe hit the bracket with a heat gun, squirt it with some penetrating oil. A flex head would probably help. With such little clearance you may be better off doubling up a set of wrenches.

Ok so the trick for me was jacking the car higher and using the floor jack handle around the rachet for more leverage (apparently don't have 1/2" sockets and my long handled torque wrench wouldn't fit in the space with the 3/8-1/2 adapter). So I got that bracket off....but the caliper still won't come off....it'll rotate with the rotor maybe 10-15 degrees but that's about it. Didn't want to wail on it with a hammer if I was missing something else, but is there something more than that bracket with the two 19mm bolts keeping it on? I'd say there's a good chance it's never been off (car only has 20k on it and still on original pads/rotors as far as I know).
