2013 BRZ Transmission Troubles

Good morning everyone.
I am having troubles with my stock manual transmission. When I coast while in gear I can hear a rubbing/grinding sound and a whine sound when accelerating. I can't figure out what is going on. My BRZ is my daily so I can't just pull the transmission out. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on?

I tested the synchros by no clutch shifting. They seem to be in alright condition. I know I need to replace the TOB but I don't believe that is what is causing the noises I am hearing. I just replaced the clutch, flywheel and TOB just before Easter.

Do you hear it in fifth gear?

Can you post a recording? I was expecting you to say no. This may not be transmission. Maybe differential.
In fifth gear, the transmission is just spinning along for the ride. The input and output are joined together as a straight shaft.

If it's your daily, better get it in to a shop for a look.

When you say differential, are you referring to the rings and pinions? Or the actual differential? I'm not sure how to go about working towards a fix. I just started learning about cars about a year ago so my knowledge is fairly limited.

It gets complicated pretty quickly. Best to get an experienced set of ears and hands on. Don't wait.
