Open flash tablet

So my FR-S came with an open flash tablet. My question is this, is there a way to know what tune my car currently is running? I’m not exactly sure how to use it. I mean I’ve gone through it and I can see how it works but I don’t know how to see what tune my car is running if any at all. For now I’ve put 91 octane in because that’s what it is supposed to have. Would I know that it is running on an e85 tune? Any advice would be great. Thanks guys!

Sure can, you connect the OFT to your car first.

Select the INFO button.

Your tune will be shown under the FILE IN ECU line.

This description will tell you what file you are running, let us know what the file name is anyway..

Okay I will check today on my lunch break. Thanks for the reply. And I will post the file name as well.

Sounds like a tinkered with tune. The pop and crackle tunes usually are less responsive by how they make the sounds

Yea well when I let off the gas, as it’s decelerating, it does pop a little

Sur 06-10-2021 08:21 PM

So is it safe to change it to a standard stage 1 or 2

You start decelerating and slightly touch the throttle.Try that. That`s how it works and can be set for an rpm range.

The tune 1/2 depends on your mods. If you plug the oft into your pc with openflash manager installed you can see what tunes are in the oft.

Sur 06-10-2021 09:47 PM

Yea that pretty much what happens.

I’m still trying to figure out exactly what mods I have since I bought it used from a dealership and they didn’t have much info about that aspect.

I don’t wanna damage anything so i guess since it is running fine I should not do anything until I get some more answers.

Little high jack but how do you check oil temp oftv2? Do I need an aftermarket sensor?

Sur 06-11-2021 04:15 PM

So what’s the best way to figure out what file to download from OFT site. I search GT86/FRS/BRZ 2013 6MT and there is a ton. How do I get the most recent updated one?

If the tablet doesn't already have them loaded from the previous owner you will want to download: Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 2+. From there you can add more or learn how to tinker with the tunes through the application RomRaider. Is there an "original file" saved on the tablet? That would be your stock ECU map.

Sur 06-11-2021 05:44 PM

Yea there is an original. Also there is a stage 1 and 2 stage 2 and the one custom it’s running. But I was of the understanding that I should be using updated tunes from the OFT site. So I just was looking and there are a lot. I don’t wanna install something that will hurt my ecu or anything else. So I’m just looking for a safe tune I can install and not have this dumb pop tune that is on it currently.

Update*
So today I installed the stage 2+ OFS on MY FRS and got rid of the pop tune that it came with. Feels so much better. Everything went smooth and I got the scary first time tune virginity feeling out of the way.

I’d like to thank everyone for their advice and help. I appreciate every single one of you!
