Engine light for “replace abs module” but is functioning fine.
 

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I’m new here. So I got new wheels and tires for the rear. They were bigger than the front ones so the car went in to limp mode after about 1/3 mile of driving, turned around and went back one abs parked the car. Got new tires that are the same outter diameter as the front and unhooked the battery for a few seconds, then hooked it back up. When I started it back up it was out of limp mode, abs lights gone and drove fine but had a check engine light. Took it to the store, pulled the code and it said replace abs module. Everything seems to be functioning fine though. Is there any way I can “reset” the abs module? It functions fine and I would hate to replace something that isn’t broken. Thanks

I don’t really have an answer on what you should do, and I agree that it’s dumb to replace something that’s not broken, BUT, in your case if you did get a 2017+ abs pump/module you would get a less restrictive traction control system and hill assist.

Until peeps respond my recommendation would be let the car sit with the battery disconnected for a little bit.

Or you can go to an independent garage and explain to them what you did with the different size wheels, how you took care of that with the new wheels, disconnected the battery in an attempt to reset everything, then ask them if they will connect their professional grade scanning tool to reset the ABS module codes.

But don't let them sell you something you don't need.

It should reset after disconnecting power and then about a mile of driving.
