Titanium Brake Pad Shields
Is anyone with the PP Brembo’s, or others for that matter, using Titanium Brake Pad Shields to block heat transfer from pad to caliper/pistons?
What are your impressions? Effective, or gimmick? |
gimmick.
titanium has only a slightly lesser thermal conductivity than standard steel. at the material thicknesses of the backing plate vs the pad material thickness(which would maintain and enhance the thermal load), if you're having issues with steel backing plates, you're going to have the exact same issues with titanium backing plates-- it just might be half a braking zone further on. |
People put backing plates back in :iono:

Thanks for the confirmation.
I hadn't seen any discussion about them here so thought I'd ask. Cheers! |
Nascar brakes have a ring that reduces the conductivity. Besides that, a shield would only work for convective and radiative heat transfer (if it is the case)
