Changing The Horn

Hey so I really dislike the stock horn. The car looks like a mean thing coming then makes a squeaking sound if you have to use the horn. Straight up my Mini makes a much deeper sound -_-

So my question was just is there anything about compatibility that I should look out for or can I just go to a scrap yard and pick out any horn and replace it? Was looking at getting an older 5 series horn because I've never heard a deeper horn than that. I assume it being Toyota it should be as easy as plug and play?

You don't like the Road Runner!? The MEEP MEEP!?

I keep threatening to change the horn but I've been too lazy... I'm pretty sure the stock horn is just one (high) tone instead of the classic one high + one low... But changing it should just be plug and play as far as I know.

I have a full four note set of Cadillac horns I was planning to put on my Jeep, but maybe they should go on the BRZ instead.

A couple people on the 86 FB group have train horns installed. Their videos when they get cut off are absolutely hilarious

I've looked at them, still not deep enough for how I want it haha we here flash and horn quite often and it's a societal trend sort of thing to have the brightest flash and growliest horn, it's basically asserts your dominance on the road:thumbup:

I just wanna know if the cables should just fit and work yk

Nothing is going to just fit and work. All of it is going to take some electrical work

I get your frustration with the stock horn—it can really kill the vibe of a badass car. Swapping out your horn sounds great, and I did something similar with my old truck. I found a sweet air horn at an auto shop. It was a bit of trial and error to install, but man, once it was in, it transformed the whole driving experience. Just make sure to check compatibility with your car model before diving into the scrap yard.

Your vehicle is really a Subaru, not a Toyota. Check out the YT vids for installing the Subaru Tribeca horns in other Subaru models. I installed the Hella Ferrari note horns in my FR-S.

I had a Wolo Bad Boy on my old Echo and it definitely upped the awareness factor. Simple plug and play. I haven't ever bothered looking into the FRS, but I thought the main issue is the horn is a nuisance to get to.
