OLM headlight help!
 

Hey guys, I got a new set of OLM headlight from ftspeed. I don’t know if this is a newer kit/wires. I’m pretty sure I hooked it up correctly but the boomerang doesn’t come on during drives. It only comes on if I turn the headlights on. I watched plenty of YouTube videos. Does anyone have a newer OLM kit? And does your boomerang come on drive? Any help please

Nope, I watched him already. I’m sure everything is plugged up correctly, I just need someone to confirm that the boomerang only comes on when the headlights are turned on.

It’s a FRS. So I did splice the turn signal and connect the 3 wires. Everything works, I just don’t believe that the boomerang only comes on when the light is turned on. Like when I had my stocks, with e brake down, the DRLS are on. I just don’t believe it.

Are you using the adapter harness that comes with in the box?

Yes I am. The more I research, I’m starting to think this is how it’s supposed to be. I read some brz owners actually had to hardwire the DRL/boomerang into the accessory wire, which I will have to locate if I wanted it on. I hate to believe it but all of the YT videos I’ve watch. You can tell they have their lights turned on first click cuz the tail light is red.

Yeah you will need to tap the boomerangs to a accessory 12v source. Even on my 2019 86, the harness it comes with is pretapped to the 12v for the headlight adjuster motor.

This is because boomerangs are not DRLs. Even on stock BRZs they are like this (without an aftermarket module).
