Fuel Additives and Upper Engine Cleaner

Hi,

I will be servicing my boosted brz as per Subaru recommendations.

As for the Fuel Additives and Upper Engine Cleaner, will these affect anything now that my car is boosted?

For the Upper Engine Cleaner, can I use the vacuum line for BOV to spray the cleaner?

Any input would be appreciated!

Apologies for the noobish questions.

Ask yourself, why are you doing this? Do you have an issue? If not then no need.

Have you ever seen your throttle body interior not to mention your direct injectors?
They are full of smoke and carbon deposits, that's why Subaru calls for injector cleaner every 15.000kms, at least in my area.
I use every 10.000kms HKS DDR which is the most potent hyper polyether amine (PEA) product in the market and what Subaru uses in Japan:

That is true, if you live outside of the U.S. Other than that, using the premium fuel from stations like Mobil or Shell should be enough to take care of it.

I get it. But with thousands of miles of Acura’s, Subarus and old fords, this has never been an issue. Maybe clean gas is the reason here in the states. There is no harm, I remember some people on the bob is the oil guy forum recommended the Lucas oil injection cleaner. I tested it and it did give me about 1-2mpg more, but with the cost was really a wash. Every once in while if it’s on sale I’ll get it and run through the cars. But I really can’t say it’s obviously doing anything.

The more PEA in the additive the better the cleaning effect, afaik there are very few injector cleaners with more than 50% PEA, the best I ever found is the HKS DDR and the Subaru (Japanese) injector cleaner that are probably the same product.
Old Acura Subaru and Ford have all port injectors so they don't suffer much from carbon deposits.
