Mishimoto cold air intake
Looking to upgrade the intake on my GT86 with a Mishimoto cold air intake. The car is my daily driver but i'm also planning on tracking it this summer, how does the pod filter fare with everyday driving? I live in a very dusty city and i'm interested on well they filter air and how easily they get clogged?

They don`t filter fine dust well. They don`t get clogged easy and they filter best when filthy.

Probably better off with an oiled element like a K&N

Save the money and keep the OEM system and replace filter with a better one.

Yeah i already have a serviceable K&N filter that fits into the OEM airbox. I was looking to squeeze out a few more horsies by installing a complete intake system but the pod filter and the dusty environment keeps me from doing it

drop-in airfilter already brings out 70-80% of gains to be had from there. Aftermarket intake may net little on top of that, as stock airbox design already is rather efficient, but will cost relatively lot, making it bad by price/performance, and may introduce some illeffects, like messing MAF sensor readings and requiring to rescale them in ecu tune. If you must change out complete intake, i'd think of something like TRD's or Grimmspeed's, as they should more or less keep MAF readings same, not mess with it to artificially lean air-to-fuel ratio for extra advertisement ponies from running too lean with stock ecu tune, that are gone once you fix tune, but may put extra stresses/wear on egine from potentially more knocking.

Understood. Will keep stock airbox then. Thanks!

Drop in filter only. Factory box is already a CAI

From what I understand the most restrictive part on our vehicle are the catted headers. The rest is quite minimal, including the air intake and catback exhaust.
Drop-in filter and inlet tube should be a good setup for your needs. No need to spend past that. It becomes engine bay bling at that point. |
I have the doubt on intake tubes, too. I think the most advantages come from closing the sound changer. I noticed the difference just with a plug.

cheap AF is drop-in airfilter. Complete intake relatively way less so.
