Clunking noise in uneven road. Please Help.

Hello Guys, It's started last week. I have a clunking noise on my rear driver side, At first I thought only personal things on the trunk making the noise. But today I sorted out, Removed everything in the trunk, spare tire, jacks, stands and secure all seatbelts. Tries to run it in the parking lot and unfortunately the clunking noise is still there.

When the car is turned off and I give force up and down at the rear there is still a clunking noise.

When the car is on drive and in uneven road rear side of the car having a clunking noise. Here is the audio recorded a while ago.

While car is turn off.
Audio file:

When driving low speed: (noticable after acceleration, and gas is not pressed)

Well, pakunodafie , lets start with an obvious question, are all the lug nuts tight?

If so, you may wish to check the axle nut on that side to make sure it's tight.

What, if anything, have you done with the rear suspension lately?

If you can make that sound when the car is stopped, I suggest you stick your head under the car and have a friend push it up and down on the car to see if you can isolate where the sound is coming from.

I hope you get it sorted out.

Hi, All bolts and nuts are tighten down, There's no modification in the suspension. Completely stock except for the Invidia N1 and Wheels.

Cannot manage to lift the car but seems the problem is the shock absorber, But not 100% sure if only bushing, swaybar or anything in suspension.

Another observation is: The sound trigger when the shocks or spring bounced back. Not on the initial bounce.

Do the wheels have hubcentric spacers, or are they the correct size?

They do have hub centric spacers. And checking they are in correct size and fits perfectly.

OK, plan B. Take your car to a shop and put it up on a lift, so that you and a second pair of ears and eyes can get a better look to find out what is lose.

Sounds like rear sway bay end links to me. Disconnect that side and see if the noise goes away.

I'm 99% sure this is the answer. Sway bar links are pretty common problems with rough roads. They clunk as they bang around in the mounting hole when the sway bar would otherwise be moving, usually because they've been vibrated loose or took a nice violent hit (pothole country represent) and ended up with damage (I've had mine bent and/or stripped and rusted loose).

If you've got rust issues you may need an angle grinder for removal (Be mindful of the shafts and other important bits nearby, they're expensive when you cut through them). Beyond that, it's a pretty simple and easy change. With the car on stands use a jack to lift the suspension to the point the sway bar is unloaded, then loosen and remove the link, put the new one in, and then tighten it down and load the suspension again. Like an hour tops if they're not frozen or stripped.

The top photo is referring to the end links. Though the specific photo you show are the front end links.
