Stock speakers have better bass than aftermarket - help!
I replaced my door speakers with pioneer ts-m650pro door speakers and I have a scion pioneer head unit. The new speakers' bass is a lot worse than the stock ones. I assume it has to do something with the stock amp? Not sure what my options here are.
Thanks! |
The stock speakers are 2 ohm. Installing 4 ohm drivers will lower output. The speakers you bought are also crap for bass extension as they specifically say they are midbass drivers. The door speakers on this car are subwoofers.
Your options are: Gut the stock system and install a subwoofer like pioneer intends for use with those drivers Replace the drivers with the stock speakers Have some custom built 2 ohm 6" subwoofer drivers that are less 3" deep installed |
Thanks for the he explanation. No wonder why the seller threw them in for free with the knee pads =]

The stock door speakers actually aren't bad. They do distort some at higher volumes but if you're running the factory head unit then you're not going to see a TON of difference with aftermarket speakers unless yours are blown.
