Grease the latch?

Adjust the latch?

I'll refer you to our trunk closing expert @Ultramaroon.

Define "hard to close". Mine takes a firm push.

The latch on the lid can be adjusted. Your second photo nicely shows the two screws that need to be loosened. Be careful. Once you loosen them, you're committed to making some sort of adjustment.

I've never had to do it so I can't advise with experience but the procedure is described at the bottom of this page. I'm not so sure about using a hammer. Seems excessive. :/

Here's another solution:

It takes a little effort to close my trunk also. But in my case I have the extra weight of the TRD wing to help close it. Otherwise you have to firmly close it. No soft close doors/trunk on the twins! [emoji28]

Not sure if applicable to the pre facelift cars in other countries but the 17+ models with the factory spoiler have a new damper installed. These require much more force to close than the ones without it. It isn't a matter of adjustment but simply pushing harder to counter the damper force.

Yes, applicable to pre facelift cars. Spoiler comes with new dampers.

I've got the perf pack wing and it still take a good slam to get it closed. Really bothers me considering I recently drove a rental econobox hyundai that was soo much smoother and easier to close.

I think the thread LimitedSlip posted is the way to go, because it puts the striker in a better starting position. But, I'm curious how long the solution would last vs using a steel shim and some epoxy.
