I see there is a small shield but any issues or concerns about the turbo heat being that close to the battery?

For extra peace of mind and some engine bay bling, DEI makes some awesome gold reflective heat tape :D, but it's really not necessary. We've monitored battery surface temperatures after extended track sessions and stress testing and found them to be a non-issue when using the provided heatsheild.

Is it safe to assume that most/all aftermarket headers that retain the OEM overpipe would work in conjunction with this kit?

A light weight (smaller) battery would probably allow more gap between the turbo and battery, and a turbo blanket is a good idea in general.

99.999% sure yes.

Great ideas/input for avid track enthusiasts!

The original, OEM battery on our 2014 BRZ test vehicle is finally starting to show signs that it might be time for a replacement after 7 years of use (won't hold a charge if not driven for a few weeks). We installed the kit over 25k miles ago, and have participated in countless track days, challenges, and drift events. Most batteries are recommended to be replaced after 4-6 years. Not bad!

Correct! The kit takes the place of the factory overpipe for the up and down-pipes. We have found that there is minor variation in OEM exhaust manifold fitment, and have built in a specific tolerance in the up-pipe to ensure proper fitment.

So as long as the fitment of your aftermarket header is within OEM standards, it will physically fit with the kit, and further gains can be had.

However; we do have to make it very clear that installing an aftermarket header that is not smog legal will compromise your vehicles compliance.
