I guess you'll have to disconnect this hose to install the GT Spec kit?

oops..

JadeBRZ 08-09-2012 02:37 PM

or you could just put it over top of the a/c line :bonk:

Arnie_1 08-09-2012 02:39 PM

Perhaps. Would depend on how much it would compress, bend or pinch the hose/line.

JadeBRZ 08-09-2012 02:42 PM

it won't, i just went down and pushed on that line. there is plenty of slack in there. Or you could undo the bracket (for the a/c line) from the firewall and make something to mount it lower so it doesnt stick up so high.

Arnie_1 08-09-2012 03:27 PM

Ah, super cool. Thanks for checking JadeBRZ! That hose did look like it had a lot of wriggle room.

White64Goat 08-09-2012 09:43 PM

But then how much does that hose rub on the underside of the brace?? And in more than one place? Looks like a nice piece, but you'd have to recharge the A/C after installing it, it would appear, if you want the hose to go over it.....

Actually it appears that the drivers side that goes out to the strut tower is not welded and you may be able to insert the hose between the bars and the bar has a tab that bolts through the bracket and the strut bolt. Clever if that's how it is done.

When you pressed on the line, did you do it while the A/C was on?

If that is the high pressure hose, it will probably rupture if something is rubbing against it all the time. I had a high pressure line break on my STi when the line was resting on top of the FMIC piping.

Maybe it won't happen, but I think it probably would eventually.

If you're worried about that, just wrap a piece of coolant hose or a large piece of convoluted tubing around the AC line.
