Rain drops stay on car for a while
 

I am sure most of you have gone through this problem and will have some idea about it.
I wash my car weekly and every 4-5 washes apply the turtle spray wax and dry. Also, every 6-8 months I apply Adam’s clay with Adams detail spray.
I just realized that after each rain my car has rain drops while all other cars parked around are dry.

Is this normal? There is so much info and I am a little confused whether it’s good or bad.

Any idea?

Do you always park in the same spot? (Like right beside a water sprinkler?) :cheers:

That's normal when you have protection on the paint.

Some products have better beading or sheeting properties. Ceramic coatings are better known for water sheeting. But there are some new sealants on the market like meguiars ceramic wax that have pretty good water beading and sheeting without the prep or cost of a coating.

My guess, unprotected cars dry faster because water doesn't pool up, rather just sits thinnly against the paint.

Despite those drops leave little spots once dried (most probably with the dust etc during the dry out) I am completely fine cause you can clean them with a very low pressure of rinse.

Busybee, you're waxing your car waaaay too often! Leave it be till the water doesn't bead up - then wax it.

Anyways, that's the way ol humfrz doesn't do it. :sigh:

I tried ceramic wax about 3 weeks ago. Its ok, nothing special imo. I used turtle wax seal n shine which seems to get good results on YouTube.

I used to be obsessed with detailing my car. I used do clay bar, compound (if necessary), 3 stage polish (that's 3 different polishes with different levels of abrasiveness) and then wax on top. Water used to bead off my car like nothing. With ceramic wax, its not even close to what my car used to do in terms of beading. Spray waxes, and spray on ceramic waxes don't do much. They help beading, but you need to use actual wax, or an actual ceramic coating to get really good water beading imo.

I'm fine with the level of beading the ceramic wax gives me, but it still doesn't last. I fine with it, because I haven't done a full detailing on any of my cars for almost a decade now. I wasted too much of my life on detailing cars. I much rather spend that time on other things.

If you want your water to bead, just get it ceramic coated professionally, not ceramic wax.

You want beading ,use Classic Car Wax (no longer made). It was a bitch to put onand even harder to get off. In the rain lt looked like your car had goose bumps.

I use Nu-Finish( yes I know) after using Meguiars #7 show car glaze. It last a good while and beads well.

Any new sealant will do the same. Quick and easy. Jet seal is so much easier to apply and rub off. But my fav is sonax polymer net shield Which goes on like PAM. Both very easy and beading for months. I also use spray wax from sonax or their detailer, those alone will bead up very well. Nowadays even the cheapest Spray detailer Does good beading.

WOW! Someone else actually used (tried to use) Classic Car wax!- :eyebulge:

Back in the day (1970), I had a BRG MGB-GT and thought it was a "classic", so, I purchased the "best" paste wax money could buy (Classic Car Wax). Early one Saturday morning I started applying the wax, late Sunday night I will still trying to get the last of it off!

I kept it for several years, but finally threw it away without ever using it again!

Don't be trying to confuse the non hunters!

A true ceramic coating done by a professional will get rid of that problem, but expect to pay good money. Not worth it if your paint is still in good condition and swirl free. I did it on my previous car after it was 10 years old.
