Alignment and Steering Sensitivity
 

I'm having an issue where my steering input feels overly sensitive. The most recent changes to my car are new rear tires(Installed on June 13), the front tires are at 4/32 thread. The tires are pilot sport 4s. All of my suspension components appear to be okay. Prior to the new rear tires everything was fine. Here is a copy of my alignment(completed on May 20) when all tires were at 5/32 thread.




It is more noticeable at highway speeds for instance if I add steering input left or right the car feel like it wants to pull really had in that direction.


Do I need to dial back some of the toe?

If the tires triggered the change, why would you not look at the tires first to solve the issue?

Why keep the dead fronts with new rears? 3/32 is meant for the trash heap, you're keeping them on the car because?

Also, toe in inches? Smh.

0.19 inches total rear toe (0.44 degrees!) is IMO too much. People always say it "adds stability" but in my experience more than *just a smidge* causes the rear to be unstable when you want the car to go straight, and gives understeer when you want it to turn in. And kills tire life. Sucks for *everything*.

Have them knock rear toe-in down to about 0.1 *degrees* total, or 0.04 inches total.

Also worth noting that brand new rear tires at full tread depth will have noticeably more tread squirm, which could be part of what you're feeling.

The symptoms your describing are pretty much whats happening.

I think its probably the alignment as well. The alignment guy said this would be a good set up even though I told him to I really wanted to go with -2.5 front camber, 0 front toe and -2.0 rear camber, 1/16" rear toe in. Guess its time find a different shop lol.

Some are so convinced that "more rear toe => greater stability!" they really try to force in on ya... I'm sure if you insist the same shop will put it where you want.

Honestly you could go with zero even. But IMO 0.1 degrees is a good place to be.

Bet new tires are coming thursday, I'll report back on this. Also going to get the toe knocked back down.

Total toe in the front is out of range too.

Yeah, that's a lot of front toe=in, 0.1 inch is 0.23 degrees. I run zero...

This alignment shop sucks...did you give them any specs or just let them do their thing?
