Exhaust line and Back Pressure
 

Im getting a Full Blown stage 1 turbo kit which runs an over pipe with 3” of diameter, but I cant find a frontpipe that has a high flow cat at 3”, so I was gonna either:

- Run the front pipe at 2.5 and continue the line at 3”
- Continue the whole line from the front pipe at 2.5
- or keep my borla cat back that goes from 2.5 to 2 and get a 2.5 front pipe

Im just wondering if running any of does lines 7-8 psi will create to much back pressure...

JDL makes 3" front pipe with high flow cat. You can get an Avo 3" with high flow cat. Google is a wonderful tool my friend.

Up to you. Catted and resonated will definitely keep it quiter and deep toned. Dual resonated will definitely deepen the sound and keep it mildly quiet. I say dual resonated as it basically catless without drone and will make it sound better and keep cabin vibrations and drone down.

It's as Joveen says. But keep in mind, if you do an open dump wastegate ( not recirculated) none of your exhaust system will be deadening that sound. it's like a second exhaust that is about 6" long and it SCREAMS, but is only open when the wastegate opens (hopefully around your set boost level)

Look up videos of " open dump wastegate" to understand what I'm referring to.

That’s exactly the tone im looking for, especially cause I dont want a raspy exhaust overtaking the turbo noise. But I will have to do a resonated and cat cause the full blown kit looks like only does uncatted equal length headers

Lmao Thats exactly what I dont want. So recirculated turbo and the two resonators. Will that sound like a honda?

I just uploaded this video so you can hear an example. My car has the open wastegate dump, but a stock exhaust.
If I had a recirculating exhaust, it wouldn't be very loud at all, but outside the car the noise can be heard very very far away. My car has an equal length header as well, which is more " honda" than you'll get with an unequal length header.

I have no blow off valve, the port is completely blocked off. So the air that is supposed to escape cannot. I was running it like that to test and ended up leaving it like that, I had no negative effects but I did not run it like that for more than a few months. I have no data to suggest whether or not it will harm the turbo compressor, so I would not recommend it until I can prove without a doubt that it would not harm something.

this is a dumb question and partially jacking the thread but do they even make headers with 3" exits for super charged engines?

Fairly certain Nameless makes headers that are 3" where it meets the overpipe. Doesn't really matter, since you can just get a 3" overpipe and it'll go from 2.5" at the header to 3" at the overpipe.
