Having a ton of trouble removing reverse lockout.
 

Hello,

I am looking to install a Raceseng reverse lockout but I cannot get the damn pin out. I started with a 3/32 Allen wrench which didn’t work. I think bought the proper punch and even that is not working!

I have hammered the screw enough where it is almost pushed in towards the middle of the shifter, but the other side of the pin is not moving at all. Is it bending maybe?

Either way I feel like at this point I’m doing damage to the transmission, but I was seeing if my next step is to drill or any other insight you guys had.

If worst comes to worst, you can pull the shifter column. It can be done from within the cabin, though you'll likely need a new rubber dust cover for the linkage because it won't come off without a real fight (and potentially getting torn due to age and the rough process).

Haven't done the de-pinning myself so I don't have real insight here. From what I've observed from other people, the OEM pin is hollow and you've potentially flared it making it difficult to extract.

Yeah good advice on taking out the whole unit. I was able to attack it from the other side and it came out relatively easy.

It looks like it flared and maybe event bent on the side I was originally trying on. There is a snapped pin punch on both sides lol.

late to the party but for future reference, a 3 mm socket head cap screw can be used to drive out the roll pin.

I did this recently and was hacking away at my fingers like an idiot trying to hold the Allen key to push the pin out.

For future reference, I used a vice grip to hold the Allen key in place, then hammered at that. Came out easily in a few seconds :)

I would highly recommend using a 3/32 punch pin to make your life easier. I had no luck with allen keys and drill bits, hacking at my fingers. As soon as I was able to get one in my hands, the roll pin came out with ease with a couple of hits of the hammer.
