Any way to change window auto-up/down?

Any way I can stop the windows from rolling down and up slightly when the door's opened / closed?
I know this is a nifty convenience feature.
The driver's side window grabs the door seal and wraps it up near the top. Silicone grease is temporary and messy.
The passenger's side sounds like it's crunching glass when it gets to the top, despite my best efforts to keep it spotless.
And, I am in no hurry to replace the power door parts. Mostly 'cause plastic trim fasteners love to fall apart.
So, any way to change the setting for this?
Many thanks;
Alan
P.S., meant to post this in the main forum, but can't seem to move it. Any advisement welcome.

Tape the little black button sensor on the door jamb down.

Thanks!
I'm not above that. Does that switch go anywhere else? I'll give it a shot and report back. Appreciated.

It is you door ajar switch so things like door chimes and the auto (when opening the door) interior lights might not function.

If it doesn't move down a bit when you open the door the glass has a very high chance of breaking and if it doesn't go back up it will leak (air and water) and be a bigger pain in the ass than having to clean the edge occasionally. The frameless windows on our OB don't do this and it has caused problems. Consider that 1/2" of movement a good thing.

the height the windows go is adjustable by an adjuster in the door I believe. At least I saw that somewhere.

There are several dry lubricants that you could try. These will not attract dirt. Often sold for aluminum slides.

Be careful if you use a lube on the rubber, some act as dessicants on materials other than metals and will ruin it. It can also cause air leaks in the gaps and the wind noise will certainly be more annoying than a strip of dirty glass at the edge of the window. Just resign yourself to taking 30 seconds out of your life every two weeks or so and wipe the top of the window off.

I got used to just leaving the window cracked just enough to not activate it. Unless it rains more than lightly, there is no water that enters. The motor gets used less too.

I just got a low mile 2017 86 and the interior light does not come on/turn off when the door is opened/closed.

It is a CPO from Toyota and I brought it back & they blamed the OEM Subaru Homelink/compass mirror I installed using the OEM harness into the OEM harness which is otherwise untouched & more importantly they ignored that it was happening before I installed the mirror.

Last night I was sitting in the car with the door open in my garage and the window jittered up & down by its self (made me jump) and the light came on!

I tried all the window resets I could find with no resolution any input would be greatly appreciated.

either a bad door switch, or you have the light function selector switch to the 'off' position.

It is happening on both doors & of course, this is when the switch is set to door.

The windows jitter up/down sporadically, both sides when open I then found after trying to figure it out.

I ran Techstream and the system checks good and I can toggle the light on & off with Techstream.

Also, the light turns on when I shut the car off and goes off a few seconds after closing the door.

Most likely your door jam switches are toasted. I had the same issue on my passenger side where the window would constantly move u[ and down when the door was open. To test, open the door and then wiggle and depress the door switch. If the window moves up and down based on the movement you put into the switch, then it's time for a new one. I had mine replaced under warranty.

FYI...I had to show the issue to the Tech twice before he realized what was going on. Initially they told me everything checked out fine (assuming they hooked it up to TechStream or whatever and no codes came back), so I had to jiggle the switch for them again. The 2nd time they got it and replaced the switch.

FYI, the later models (2014 and up I think) changed the door indexing programming to cut the travel in half.
