Removing fuel from tank, best way
Whats the best or easiest way to get the fuel from my tank. I was considering jumping the fuel pump relay with the fuel line disconnected from The engine. Any sjggestions.
Thanks Roger |
It might not be the best way, but the easiest way is to drill a hole into the bottom of each tank.

Drop it and dump it out

Drive it until empty.

You can disconnect the starter fuse, disconnect one of the fuel lines, and continuously start the car and stop it, over and over again while the fuel line shoots fuel out of it and hopefully into a bucket. It might take awhile depending on how much fuel you have left in the tank. We had a little under a quarter left when we tried, and it maybe took two of us (one holding the bucket and one in the car turning it over) ~30 minutes.
EDIT: I just read your question, I had only read the title of the post. You have the right idea. |
Make the fuel pump work for you, or drop it as is.
If dropping the tank as is, remember there is likely a check valve in the filler neck. It's possible you could remove the filler neck hose and stick a long screwdriver in to relieve the check valve, and empty some of the gas that way with it still in the car. |

If it's the same as a 2018 the fuel pump is controlled by an ecu. No old school relay terminal jumping possible.
If you accessed the fuel pump ecu, and disconnected the connector you could supply power and ground to the fuel pump yourself. Then you could just catch the fuel from wherever you disconnected the fuel line |
Stick a hose in and suck it out with your mouth?

Or, just write off the $20 in fuel since your time must be worth something. |
