header bolts
these are the bolts connected from the header to the overpipe, do other cars come with these no bead bolts? seems odd to me https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2c9be67550.jpg

Interesting.......
I don't remember mine looking like that (17 BRZ). Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk |
I just want to say those bolts were such a pain in the ass when installing aftermarket headers for me. I sprayed some lube oil in it and it didn't work. Not enough room for my impact driver. My breaker bar barely fit and it didn't even move it.
So I used oil + torch. It was still a tough job. The nut was seized on there still so the whole stud came off. |

it's a common bolt. one end threads into the flange on one side and the other side is held via a nut.
Nissan has had this for their catalytic converters for the last 30+ years. |

One side came out easily, just undid it with a breaker bar. The other side was the one I was struggling with. I ended up spraying a ton of penetrating lube on the bolt, wearing gloves I used one of those kitchen hand-held butane torches from my roommate and kept heating it. I think the heat made the penetrating lube go deeper into the flange and the heat loosen the stud a tiny bit. I used a breaker bar and kept pushing at it from underneath the car. In the end the Nut did not come off, I took the whole stud screw off with the nut still on. |
