Steering wheel locked car won’t start

my steering wheel is locked and wont unlock and my car wont start.

Every thing works inside and out of the car no fuses or relays are bad the starter, battery and key fob all work fine but the car still won’t even attempt to start just goes right to accessory, and I can hear the fuel pump turn on does anyone know what would cause this or how to fix it?

It’s been at a dealer for a week and they dint know what’s wrong with it or how to fix it and are waiting in Subaru tech support to figure it out

So, just to be sure, you can turn the key all the way to "start"? And nothing happens?

It’s a push button cause it’s a brz but yes if I push the button it goes to accessory and won’t attempt to turn over and the wheel will not unlock no matter what I do and the dealer can’t unlock it either

Did you try the spare key fob? Auto or manual car?
They can do weird things when the fob battery is weak!
The safety switch on the manual clutch pedal?

DarkPira7e 11-11-2019 02:56 AM

I'm suspecting weak fob battery of clutch pedal switch.

zakman16 11-14-2019 01:42 AM

It’s a Manual car have already replaced the key fob battery’s and the clutch safety switch neither fixed it

Use a multimeter to double check the clutch safety switch and the attached wiring.
Also use a multimeter to check every fuse in the car.
And make sure the new fob battery is good and is seated properly.

WTF, you have to insert a key into an ignition to start the car.. what are you driving? Something from the 80's??

BirdTRD 11-14-2019 07:25 AM

1 Attachment(s)
Also make sure you also check the 2 in the fuse block assembly at the + battery post.

Pull the tension out of the steering lock!

NVM, didnt read. Happens all the time though.

I visually checked all the fuses and relays and switches some around with ones that were similar I didn’t use a multi meter tho. And The dealer said there were fault codes linked to the ecu and it not communicating properly so I got a used ecu of a guy parting out 13 brz manual like mine and I’m having them recalibrate it to my car, hopefully this is the issue

**quick update changed out the ecu still doesnt start...

If the steering wheel isn't unlocking, it sounds like an immobilizer issue?

Was the new ECU programmed to work with your cluster and key?

zakman16 11-21-2019 04:44 PM

yes it was, both keys also work fine and the dealer programmed the ecu them self, if the immobilizer was the issue how would i know/ is there a way to bypass it to get the car to start?

If there was it would totally suck as an immobilizer.
