UEL header for existing SBD turbo?
Might be a really stupid question, but how would one go about swapping the EL header on the SBD turbo, for a UEL option? Basically; I'm wondering if just buying an existing UEL turbo header would fit just fine, or if there'd be other things to consider?

I've been thinking about this myself as well. But because I dont have SBD it would just make sense buying JDL. As much as people say is cheap it's not.

It can be done, but you'll be re-doing the intercooler piping, possibly all oil drain and feed lines, probably the coolant lines, your downpipe from the turbo to meet the exhaust. UEL will offset the turbo positioning. Why not sell it and go JDL? You'd lose a lot less money doing that and get a worthwhile turbo. You'll also be hard pressed to find a UEL header with a T25 flange and no external wastegate flange. Pretty sure it's T25 and not T3 anyway....

Will be sticking with the sbd as it's perfect as-is, just wanted a different sound. Will be going the catback route instead. |
^ good idea. If the car is dialed in and fast, enjoy it. Lots of money goes down the toilet trying to reinvent the wheel

JDL sells a drop in replacement UEL manifold for "popular t2/t25 based turbo kits" (read: SBD). This is a designed as a direct swap/upgrade. They do not list this on their website, so you will need to contact them to order.
