New engine question
Let me start off by saying I don't know anything about engines; my friend is helping me do an engine swap. My old one threw a road and is toast.
So I got this new engine in off eBay and we're perplexed as to what they did here: (Old engine): https://i.imgur.com/m7GKAxn.jpg https://i.imgur.com/p0kwtCM.jpg (New engine): 1) This obviously has some purpose (bridgestone nipple)? https://i.imgur.com/TaSLSaL.jpg 2) Janky green hose https://i.imgur.com/30hzn2X.jpg https://i.imgur.com/0RPEjcD.jpg 3) Weird splice? https://i.imgur.com/cmITEwd.jpg 4) And this welded on (I think?) nipple (capped) that is nowhere to be found on my old engine. It appears as if the hose connects to it? https://i.imgur.com/Ne9XW5i.jpg https://i.imgur.com/uvGrHip.jpg Anyone know what they did here? |
Other friend showed me it may be a set-up for an air oil separator?

Is this off an auto?
1. Looks like nipple added for boost line for boost gauge, autos usually cap that nipple since not used for brake booster. But can use for boost gauge. 2. Janky green hose not sure cant tell where its going to or from by picture. 3. Splice possibly for catch can and or something to do with turbo. Again hard to tell without seeing all ends. 4. Tapped most likely for Oil temp and or pressure. All signs point to this being off a turboed car and possibly an auto. Also, thought about just stripping the manifold and hoses, and swapping yours on? |

Hopefully, they just added a crankcase breather for the heck of it, if not, you may have a nice smoke show when you get it installed.

Any other ideas as to what's going on with the capped off nipple in image 4? The person I bought off eBay says it's "completely stock" which uhh it's not so I'm a bit desperate trying to figure this out.

My biggest question is if shit'll start blowing out the bronze piece if I install it or if I can just cap it and leave it alone and swap to original hoses. Like someone mentioned earlier I'll just try and swap the manifold and hope problem solved, but I am still so curious;
