I used toluene in my old beater 86 Toyota, 7m pickup 1/4 mile was 11.35 @ 125mph

just buy BSF bardhal if you want to use an octane booster, it works

Boostane, i tested it on numerous tunes, was able to get more timing and more steady IAM with even only 1/3rd bottle. Torco was the standard, boostane stepped it up a notch.
Lots of dyno testing as well.

That study's 20 years old. Lots of advancements since.

Boostane looks like serious racing stuff. I was just hoping to add a tiny bit MMT to bump 91 to 93 octane without any change in tune and damaging cat/o2sensors. Maybe I could also try boostane in small amounts.

I have seen the difference Boostane makes, it actually works. VEMS tuning in Colchester Vermont uses it in some of the customer builds who want it. It allows for a bit more timing, usually 20-40wtq worth all together on the EJ257/FA20DIT motors

Any octane booster that actually works can shorten the life of cats and spark plugs. However boostane has minimized that effect with their formula to keep the MMT and other octane boosting ingredients in suspension as well as various cleaners/detergents. You can go to their website or download the app and calculate how much boostane you need to turn x gallons of y octane into desired z octane. Example 12 gallons of 91 octane to 93 octane requires 2 oz.
personally i think the new octane numbers may be inflated, so i would use at least double what it says. personally i use 1/3rd can or 5.34oz to treat 12gallons of 92 and probably have 94octane if I was guessing even though it says 97octane.

Most of those other octane boosters especially if it doesn’t have MMT raise octane by 1/10th of octane point per bottle. Its more for turning crap 91 into good 91. Like a bad batch or lower quality gas.

Or way to cheat petrol-only class requirement to E85 like performance boost?

mrg666 09-01-2019 04:15 PM

High octane - good quality gas makes a big difference, especially after FI. I am having hard time finding a consistently good quality 93 octane in our area. My fuel pump has crickets when I use ethanol gas. And only nonethanol is 91 octane here with inconsistent quality. Every time I fill my tank I keep wondering if it will be a bad week again. That is why I am trying to take the control of my octane. I have Lucas Oil octane booster with MMT in the tank with 91 octane non ethanol. The difference is noticeable, engine is so much more smoother and responsive. I already have just replaced the cat and sensors together with a 2017+ header swap. I will do the same again in two-three years down the road again if needed. Thank you for useful input.

I could have tried that but I need to stick with JR CARB tune.
