Valve Spring Recall – Not Original Engine

Hi,

So I am not able to register my car until I have the valve spring recall done for my 13 BRZ. The issue is that my engine was replaced last year. I shot a valve through my valve cover. :(

The engine in my BRZ is from a 2015. Since the engine is not under the same range would the dealer be able to remove the notice or have some type of documentation that my engine is not affected by the recall?

My apologies if this has already been covered, but there is a vast sea of information out there and it's tough to find what I need.

Thank you so much!

I would contact the dealer, sounds reasonable to just remove the recall.

I'd suggest you get some documentation (unless you have it) that the engine in your car is a 2015 engine. Then go to a dealer and ask them to sign off on the recall.

Sounds like a great reason to leave the state of california.

Got it, thanks friends!

just curious, but did your registration renewal actually states that u need the recall done to register the car or are you basing this off the recall letter? I renewed my tags a couple months ago and was not required to do the recall... yet... just wondering if they're starting to enforce it now... if it indeed is on the registration renewal, do u mind taking a picture of it..? thanks!

Was 2015 motor a direct swap with 2013MY? Any modifications required or reprogramming required?

I have a spun bearing at the moment, trying to see what my options are.

They should be able to gather that from the VIN I imagine

But, wouldn't the VIN reflect the old (original) 2013 engine and not the 2015 engine that replaced it?

There's a VIN on the engine itself iirc. They put that shit everywhere now a days.

Well I could be wrong. I started looking around online for it and it may be an engine block ID, which may or may not help still.

Well, that does give me an idea for the OP.

Just record the engine block ID and show it to whoever and explain that that proves that it is a 2015 engine - :D
