Oil Cooler Ducting
Hey all,
I was just wondering how you guys are getting air to your oil coolers? Seems like it's pretty sealed off behind the fog light on my 2017. Trying to find a clean looking solution. I don't want to just pop out my fog light, but I will if that's the best way to go about it. Thanks! Ps not my car but you get the point https://i.imgur.com/RgBSWMR.jpg |
i would replace the fake vent with a mesh vent.
|
Maybe drill holes in the fake vent. Probably only matters for autox or track.
|
Is your oil cooler mounted directly behind there? If you haven't purchased one yet you can opt for one that mounts in front of the radiator. Temporary solution if you don't plan on going FI in the near future.
|
Yeah, weird placement for a radiator, with body blocking it. I just put mine in front of the radiator. Works great.
|
That area has low airflow.
|
Oil cooler kits that mount in that area sometimes have their own shrouding designed to pull air from the front (e.g. Blitz, Greddy).
The HKS kit for 13-16 FRS/BRZ, which mounts in that location, actually tells you to cut holes in the bezel trim |

You may want something similar. And air exit passage is also required. |
most of the pre-assembled cooler kits will mount the radiator in front of your actual radiator.
some will have ducting, like the Blitz unit. https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99441 |

I perfer that position myself, ducting is easy, whether is home made or comes with the kit, stacking coolers takes its toll.

Cut out the fog light to get the oil cooler direct air. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
