Need help with OEM sway-bar end links
 

I'm planning on replacing OEM end links with new OEMs. Suspension is all stock. Ride height is stock, and will remain stock.

Do I have to lift the car to do this job? Or can I just turn the steering and replace while loaded?

It's best to jack the car up a little, but can be done while on the ground.

Fronts you can for sure do on the ground with the steering turned.

Rears are a bit more difficult with the car on the ground, so you may want to pull the whole rear sway bar out still attached to the endlinks so you can loosen/tighten the main rear endlink nut outside of the car.

If you do lift the car, you have to lift the whole end, not just one side. If you lift one side the sway bars will have a ton of load on them and you'll never get the new end link back on (assuming you can get the old one off).

Bought some as spares. Didn't use them, but don't like how they feel at all. OEM moves much more freely.

Thanks for responding. Did you grease them first thru the grease fitting nipples?

The pictures show grease fittings, but the actual part doesn't have them.

I've owned Moogs for other cars that had grease fittings and was very happy with them.

An acquaintance who works at Tennecco said all MOOG parts must be greased before using, yea so if they don't have the nipples, they're probably worse than OEM. Tennecco owns MOOG (or maybe the other way around?)

I choose MOOG links to replace the OEM links which got destroyed trying to remove them during suspension upgrading.

I like the MOOG's better. They have grease fitting at both ends plus a wrenching point to hold the shaft rather than the 6mm hex which after time rusts and becomes useless to remove old links. Links do wear out so ease of replacement is a consideration. Although with the grease-ability of the MOOG's they may outlast the OEM style joints.

Apologies. Looked at some old posts and my replacements are the K Power Rock Auto, with the same part number. I shopped against Moog and remembered the part number.


Based off experiences with other platforms, I would buy the Moog's with grease fittings without hesitation.
