Battery replacement oem
Anyone know where to get a oem battery.
I think it’s a Panasonic. If not, what is everyone using as a replacement? |
I've found Interstate batteries work well for every day use.

My OEM battery was crap. It was so weak the engine would stumble when I turned on the lights, and the lights would dim if I rolled down a window. I thought that was normal behavior, that we just had a weak alternator. If I forgot to remove my OBDII adapter when I left the car at the airport while out on a trip, the battery would be dead within four to five days.
I finally replaced it with a Duracell AGM battery from Sam's Club. Instantly everything electrical worked better. No more engine stumbling when I turned on the lights. I accidentally left the trunk open overnight for ten hours and figured it would be dead. It started right up without any hesitation. The only drawback is that the AGM battery is heavy, but unless you're on a weight reduction scheme for racing, who cares. If I were to buy another one, I'd replace that Painasonic right off. |
Why do you want an OEM battery????? That's one of those things that will not add value to a car, no matter how old/original it is. Please don't :(

Any battery of the right size and cranking power will work just fine. Go to any automotive parts counter and tell them what you drive and they will give you a whole price range to select from.

I'm the odd one here:
I'm quite happy with my Walmart Valuepower battery purchased May 2018. Current price for that battery is $48.88. Made by Johnson Controls. Group size for our car is group 35. I thought that might not fit (it's height [as stated online]) so I picked a slightly smaller, group VP-26R, which most likely weighs less as well. Dimensions they state online not always correct...so the bigger group 35 most likely will work in our model vehicle. For the price of an Optima Red Top I can have four of the above... |
Anyone heard of Remy batteries? How good are they?
The oem is still running good on mine. I’m right at 4 years. Car is about 5 years old. Bought a ‘15 at the end of ‘15. Figured it was getting close and the oem has worked well. My last two batteries I have bought have been autozone gold batteries and they have been good. Price has almost doubled Since the last time I bought a battery. I guess I am kind of gun shy on batteries since I put a cheap Duracell one in my lawn mower and that thing won’t hold a charge. |
Used to buy top of the line Die Hards in previous cars which still only last about 4 years down in the Texas heat - but at least they'd get replaced for free the first time and pro-rated the second time.
My OEM batt lasted about 5 years, with none of the issues the OP is reporting, but when it started getting weak I went ahead and snagged one of the Braille lightweights and it's still doing fine a couple years in. |
Interstate battery from Costco is faring well. I got over 4 years with OEM. Interstate has a retail outlet not far from house I have used in past for other Subaru.

You could buy an equivalent group 35 battery from subaru/toyota or go aftermarket. I went with the Odyssey PC-680 for the weight savings and the battery pan/tie downs is off a jdm gt86 that I sourced out from subaru parts.

brands don't seem to matter in my experience with batteries. but warranties definitely do. i always get them somewhere i can easily get an exchange.

Get a Duralast 26R-DL at autozone. They weigh a little bit less than the stock battery, but still start the car better than the stock battery every did, like almost twice as fast to crank over.
Also you shoulda seen how fast the car started on a brand new 35AGM. WEW. Cranked like a truck. I didn't like how much the AGM battery weighed and so returned it for the 26R. |
