Socket size for OEM struct bolts
Hi all!
I am getting ready to install SPC 81305 into the front lower struct hole and move the OEM 14mm bolts to the top struct holes. It seems like the SPC bolts need 15 and 18mm sockets. What sockets do I need for the OEM bolts? I tried searching around but came up short; would be great if someone could save me the trouble of taking off the front wheel before I run off to Lowe's :) Thanks! |
Dude, don't you have a socket set? If not
Go buy both SAS and Metric sets. The more sockets in the kit the better. |
As said, get a set, you're going to need it..

iirc it's like a 17 and a 19, annoying, you need at least 4-5 sizes for the job iirc, I've gotten lazy a few times and just used an adjustable wrench.
Make sure you have a deep socket for the nut on the SPC bolt, the bolt extends far past the nut so a short socket won't get it all the way on. I found this DIY that calls out all the tools for disassembly: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10842 Harbor freight man, save yourself a few bucks, hobbyists don't need lifetime warranty tools imho. Buy the whole set that has the one piece you need, repeat until you have just about everything. Also I don't know what a struct is, but I'm assuming you mean strut. |
Oops, been programming too much C at work, said struct when i meant struc :)
I ended up buying a nice 224 piece set from Lowe's. Splurged a little but man it's nice to have tools finally. For future reference, the OEM bolts and nuts are all 19mm. The SPC lower bolt are different for the nut vs bolt head: 15mm and 18mm. |
