OEM head unit no sound HELP
I was trying to install a camera using the Autoharnesshouse kit. Did not disconnect battery because I'm a dummy. Went to connect one the 10-pin harness to the back and saw a spark. Got everything put back together, OEM head unit turns on but no signal to speakers. The screen works, it can read from USB, etc., just no sound. I've tried disconnecting the battery for a while, no effect.
The clock and dome light still work, so it's not a fuse (at least not the radio fuse). What else should I check? Or is the head unit fried? |
Update: checked amp and head unit fuse just to be sure, both look fine. Upon researching this further, I learned that I had probably spliced the camera's ground into right front speaker (-) (pin 5) instead of pin 7, the ground wire. I will adjust tomorrow and update the thread.

I hope this works, because I might kill two birds with one stone: have my head unit working properly again and have a functioning rear view camera.
Either way, I have an Alpine ILX-007 standing by for install, just really hoping to get this speaker issue fixed first to be sure that the Alpine works too. |
Redid the camera ground wire today from pin 5 of the 10-pin harness to pin 7. Audio is back! Camera still doesn't work, but I'm done trying to get it to work at this point. I will try again when I'm installing that Alpine, maybe I'll have better luck then.
