My car wont be under warranty as i have a turbo on it but should i clear the code or have someone take a look? Can anyone let me know if this code is safe to drive?

Its a lean code for bank 1.. are you running a wideband AFR gauge? If so, what are your AFR's looking like? How long has it been boosted for?
If you have a wideband AFR gauge you know what your engine is doing fuel wise so I would find it OK to drive until you fix the issue (possibly a failed sensor?) if you don't have an AFR gauge then its hard to say if you really have a bed sensor or if its really running lean on that bank. A lean turbo motor is not a happy motor |

If it does have the a/f reading what would be the optimal ratio? Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk |
Well if your car is throwing a lean code I would be very cautious to read the AFR signal that the sensor is sending... because again, this could be a faulty sensor that failed during your tuning period/running too rich.
I'm not sure how lean these motor can go being so high compression, but from the supra world, under heavy load you want to stay around 10.3-10.5 to be on the safe side. For cruising/idling you want to be near stoich. levels (14.3-15ish level) if your car is, for instance, reading something like 15-16 afr it may be running a bit lean but I'm new to this specific motor/turbo combination so unfortunately can't be of much help. are you running larger injectors/custom tune or what? |
