Is it the sensor or did you install the plate that bolts to the flywheel backwards? |

I think the sensor broke when the previous owner of the engine took it out, and the plate probably didn’t “lock in” when i replaced the clutch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Actually this plate goes between the crank pulley and flywheel so it wouldn’t come off on a clutch job anyways. I was just throwing it out as an possibly incase you got an engine without this plate and transferred it over from your original engine. I’ve read about people installing it where the tabs are pointed out rather than in. |

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a677e307dd.jpg that plate becomes loose once the flywheel is removed, im positive it wasn’t aligned right since i was rushing to get the engine moved out of the way (Garage space is limited) |
I've done two flywheels in the last month. I know what piece you are talking about. That plate has a hole in it that fits onto a locating pin on the crankshaft itself. If the flywheel was bolted on and the plate was not fit correctly on the locating pin the plate would not lay flat against the crankshaft and in turn the flywheel would not lay flat when bolted on.

I know of a shop installing the plate out of pin position and still bolting the flywheel up and the car throwing random timing codes. A few grand later the problem was discovered by a different shop..... Sad reacts only. |

sadly my car is at a shop rn, labor costs would be higher than i expected Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Did they shear the pin off? That pin sticks out about an eighth of an inch - the flywheel/cltuch should be axially out of balance by that much and that should make an ungodly amount of vibration when you start it.

I swapped the clutch while the engine was outside of the car, I don’t think I noticed if the flywheel was flat against it or not Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Nope, the pin was still there. Let me see if I can dig pics. |
