Still worth it on going catless header with stock cbe in cali?
Was wondering if the volume increase is noticeable with just a catless header just enough to give a cop a hardon.
|
I'm sure you will be fine as long as you don't book it near one.

+1 to the above.

Noticeably louder yes, especially cold starts. Stupid loud at cruising speeds and normal acceleration, not at all.
|
You gotta pay to play. If you get a header get a tune.. without a tune like the OFT aftermarket headers are pointless

Should be fairly quiet with stock muffler and catted FP.

Just to amend my previous post, don't you guys in California now have some strange 95 dB exhaust law? I think you'd be fine but again, you'd have to be careful.

Aftermarket header/ oem fp/ oem cbe is still very quiet. You'll be fine.
Now if you remove the OEM FP for a catless FP... you'll hear more noise but it's not that bad. Changing the OEM FP and OEM CBE will definitely make things loud so.... keep the OEM FP in. |
I have the Tomei equal-length headers and stock everything else. Still quieter than any aftermarket exhaust and I have zero fear of noise problems.
It’s barely louder than stock. |

only thing that changed with this "new" law is they made exhaust modification a non correctable violation with a fine of up to $1,000. That's where the problem lies, and they made it where its the cops discretion with or without a decibel meter.

i have a Gruppe-S UEL header with stock OP, FP, and CBE w/ an OFT tune. it's not any louder it just has a different pitch. I haven't given it a second thought. I wouldn't be any more concerned about how it sounds near a cop than a full stock exhaust. I say go for it as long as you wouldn't make yourself crazy with worry.
