TRD springs
 

Am deciding if I want to lower my brand new car or not. I like not scraping anything so if I do lower it I will use the TRD springs as it only lowers a bit more than half an inch. Have a question for TS owners or anyone with the sachs dampers who may have used the TRD springs. How is the ride quality? I really do not want to stiffen up an already stiff ride. Really would be nice to lessen "the gap" but only if there is no negatives involved. Thanks

They lower 1", not 0.5"

Another thing to think about is spring rates. The RS*R Superdowns for BRZ lower the car about 1.2" but they are softer than the TRD or RS*R 86 versions in the rear.

RS*R Superdown BRZ
Front 3.16kg/mm
Rear 3.88kg/mm

RS*R Superdown 86
Front: 3.16kg/mm
Rear: 4.49kg/mm

TRD (allegedly Eibach Pro-Kit)
Front: 3.6kg/mm
Rear: 4.9kg/mm

I only scraped 2 or 3 times in 70K miles lowered 1". I had Eibach Prokit springs.

IMO, there is no downside to installing them. I have coils now; many downsides mixed with some up too...

I stand corrected they do lower an inch. I thought I saw 15mm some where. But do either of the above suggestions take into account Sachs dampers vs stock dampers? Or would that really not matter too much?

Where could I find the info on the spring rates that I have in my 2019 86 TRD SE? Dampers and springs are what the BRZ TS would have. Would love to know if the lowering springs are softer, firmer, or equal to what I have. Thanks

On paper the RSRs are 1.2 in the front and 1.4 in the rear. In reality mine are closer to 1.5 in the front and 1.7 in the rear.
The ride is fine except when I hit a bump fast enough to hit the stops. Think they would be fine with the Sachs.
The TRD are made by Eibach but that does not mean they are the same. I think they would be fine as well though.

JDM STi lower 15mm. Sachs PP are a pretty rough ride IMHO.
Most people will tell you to get RCE Yellow springs which are about 4.5kg/mm front and rear.
RS*R have the softest spring rates.

You will stiffen up the ride, there's no free lunch here. Less suspension travel = more jarring impact on the big bumps. Small imperfections will be fine, if anything the small stuff will be softer, since the shocks are now a bit underdamped versus stock.

Honestly depends on the roads where you are.

I would look at the RCE yellow springs, they lower a little under an inch. Get camber bolts for the front while you're in there, and max out your camber.

BRZ ts dampers are not the same Sachs of the PP/TRD USA
