It's likely cheaper to fix it rather than buy a new vehicle. Do you like the car?

Also, I'd probably make sure a head gasket is your issue to begin with.....

Are you in the recall ?? Could offset some of the cost if you are

Find out if that is really the issue.

Then whatever it is, get it fixed.

Either gasket or the head is cracked...

Would you have concern about coolant mixing in the oil harming other parts of the engine?

Go to "safercar.gov" and put in your car's VIN.

Or go to the Toyota website and look under recalls.

If your car is on the recall list, and they have to takes the heads off to replace the valve springs, that would fix any leaking head gasket problem.

Are you sure you didn't spill something sweet in the trunk?

Usually if coolant gets into the oil, a milky residue will be seen on the dip stick.

Well, coolant in the oil sure as hell isn't gonna do the engine any good - :(

I have had a subaru with a blown head gasket. Milkshake oil and lost coolant were the only symptoms. I had the engine basically took down to the short block and rebuilt.

It spun a bearing within 10k. I still would have been better off financially by replacing the motor as opposed to buying a different car. I bought something different because I wanted it.

If you like this car, figure out what's wrong and go from there. Fix it or replace the motor. If you don't like it....this is as good an excuse as any to trade out.
