Track mode vs. VSC sport
Good day everybody,
Is there a difference between the track mode on the phase 2 twins and the VSC sport mode of the phase 1 cars? It seems Toyota used the "new" track mode as a selling point of the car in some of the sales literature, but I can't find specifics regarding what it does, and in which way it differs from the VSC sport mode phase 1 cars already had. As far as I can tell all these cars have VSC off and Trac off modes. If you turn off vehicle stability control, you still have traction control. But when you hit the VSC/Trac button you are supposed to be on your own.

Track mode combines some of the aspects of the old VSC in what is shut off by the button. You get a little more control of the vehicle with one push.

Track mode is more leinent at allowing slip than the old VSC sport.
There is a thread with some detailed posts here https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111175 |
OK so it's basically the same, with higher thresholds and softer corrections.
The only other change being that the all off mode now disables brake LSD on manual cars (which, based on what I read, isn't a good thing). |
I love 'Track mode' on my Series.Yellow, I couldn't stand 'VSC sport' on my '13 -- it intervened too early. You can drift with track mode and it will intervene when it knows you've royally screwed up. :)
